Maine continues to be a ‘bucket list’ destination for so many and we won’t argue with that! With so many ways to enjoy the Casco Bay, we delight in sharing our favorite excursions and brainstorming on many others. Many rejoice in Maine’s summer months, but
we love this time of year with the crocuses blooming and the daffodils showing off. Here are a few of our favorite Spring activities in and around Freeport.
GEO-Caching has given us reason to discover lots of lesser-known hiking around our area. Armed with a great App and a sense of adventure, this exploratory “sport” offers fun for all ages and a real sense of accomplishment, especially when you find the ‘micro’ ones!!!
Fly Fishing really “hooked” Dave back in 2020. His enthusiasm, along with his gear, just continues to grow! 😋 Guests can benefit from all his intel on great spots, fly-tying and other skills he’s been honing. Plus Dave’s discovered another local treasure: Brandon Bichrest, Maine Fly Guide. Brandon is an exceptional guide and still has a few slots open, hurry and call us, we’ll try to align a stay with us and some time on the water with Brandon.
Biking – For those of you who don’t know me, cycling has been a long time passion. Frankly one of the big parts of enjoying our relocation to Maine (from New York City) has been the enjoyment of so many great roads with FAR less traffic. Ruby & I bike to and from school daily, so she can share more about the best roads in and around Freeport, and I’d be delighted to point you on a 10, 25, even 40 mile scenic routes right from our door. They can take you past beaches, farm stands, rolling fields and great coastal vistas. After you spin your legs, enjoy a cold beer on our sunny rockers and tell us all about it!
Cooking – Cooking classes were put on hold for the past two years in consideration of the Inn kitchen’s close quarters. But if you’re a group of 6 or more and enjoy learning a new skill or perfecting your pizza game, give us a call. We’re happy to offer smaller, private classes. Oh…and another teaser, we hope to offer Dave’s first cookbook for sale this summer.
Shopping – LL Bean returned to its long-standing, 24/7 operating hours last summer. So you can once again drop into our favorite outdoor gear retailer to find everything you need, whenever you need it!
Dave’s Picnic Lunch is available upon request. Give us 24hours and any dietary restrictions and we’ll send you on your Freeport adventures with a delicious packed lunch (e.g. composed sandwich, chips/pretzels, bottle water and a sweet treat).
